He was followed by Ruslan Yusupov from the Liberal Democratic Party (4.2%) and Vitaly Smirnov from the "Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice" (1.9%). It is worth noting that Minnikhanov's result of 88.09% was even higher than five years ago when he received the support of 83.28% of voters. Recall that Rustam Minnikhanov has been the head of Tatarstan since 2010. In 2015, he was appointed acting head of the region, and in the elections in September of the same year, he won with 94.40% of the votes. In 2020, he won the elections, gaining 83.27% of the votes.
