Today in Kazan, the annual address of the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, to the deputies of the State Council is taking place as part of the fourteenth session of the parliament of the seventh convocation.
In Tatarstan, the year 2026 has been officially declared the Year of Military and Labor Valor. This decision was proclaimed by the head of the republic, Rustam Minnikhanov, during his first address to the deputies of the State Council of the RT after entering a new five-year term. Leading media outlets in the region are broadcasting the event live. “In a sign of the deepest respect for the defenders of the Fatherland and the workers of the rear at all times, I declare the year 2026 in Tatarstan the Year of Military and Labor Valor,” the statement from the head of the republic reads. This announcement continues the tradition of thematic years in Tatarstan. Thus, 2025 was declared the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory. This year, for the first time in six years, the "Immortal Regiment" march took place in person, with more than 150,000 participants. In addition, a comprehensive restoration and repair work was carried out at the memorial sites, and new monuments and memorial plaques were opened to the defenders of the Fatherland. Minnikhanov's address, in which he assessed the situation in the region and set new tasks, was the first for the updated composition of the government. The event was attended by heads of ministries and departments of the republic, deputies and public figures, heads of cities and districts, representatives of business and industry, education and science, healthcare and culture, as well as religious figures and veterans.
