       According to the investigation, the bribe was intended to assist in obtaining a license for the retail sale of alcohol in violation of established procedures.

       In Tatarstan, law enforcement agencies detained the head of the State Alcohol Inspection Department on suspicion of systemic corruption. A joint operation by the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan and the regional FSB of Russia uncovered a scheme for receiving bribes for the issuance of alcohol licenses. According to an official statement from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, in May 2024, a 49-year-old official and a group of other, as yet unidentified employees of the inspection received a sum of 150,000 rubles from one of the local entrepreneurs. For this money, they guaranteed assistance in obtaining a license for the circulation of alcohol in violation of the established legal procedure. According to local media, after the money was handed over, the entrepreneur was issued a package of permits allowing the sale of alcoholic products for two retail outlets located in Kazan. A criminal case has been initiated against the detained individual under Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe in a large amount by a group of persons by prior agreement"). The court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for the suspect during the investigation. It was previously reported that the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court issued a guilty verdict against the former head of the Tukayevsky District of the Republic of Tatarstan, Fail Kamaev. He was found guilty of a series of corruption crimes. The official was sentenced to 4 years in a strict regime colony.
