      Today, for the cremation of deceased relatives, residents of the city turn to companies specializing in transporting bodies to other cities – usually to Sarapul or Nizhny Novgorod. After nearly two decades of delays, the construction of the first crematorium in Kazan has been announced. According to "Vesti Tatarstan," the facility will be located on the territory of the memorial complex "Kurgan," and a vacant lot of 2.3 hectares has already been designated for its construction. According to the source, the construction of this facility will solve a serious problem for Kazan residents, who until now had to arrange for the transportation of deceased bodies to other cities – predominantly to Sarapul or Nizhny Novgorod – for cremation. According to the project, the modern eco-friendly building with an area of 1,635 square meters will include two farewell halls, two cremation furnaces with a multi-stage filtration system, as well as a columbarium for storing ashes. As noted by biologist Anton Bortyakov, the decision to place the crematorium on cemetery grounds is quite justified from an ecological point of view – the large undeveloped area allows gases to disperse to safe concentrations. The cremation procedure will take 2-3 hours, after which the purified ashes will be handed over to relatives in an urn. The cost of the service will range from 19,000 to 33,000 rubles, depending on the chosen service package. The projected capacity of the facility is estimated at up to 9,500 cremations per year – this will fully meet the needs of the city. The construction budget is estimated at 400 million rubles, which should pay off in 8.37 years. According to forecasts, tax revenues from 2025 to 2039 will exceed 1 billion rubles. The opening of the first crematorium in Tatarstan is planned for 2029. It was previously reported that Tatarstan ranked in the top 5 regions of Russia for the growth in the number of adherents to a healthy lifestyle.
