In Nizhnekamsk, a 66-year-old man became a victim of phone scammers. He lost more than 1.3 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan reported. In December 2025, the pensioner began receiving calls via messengers from unknown individuals. The interlocutors introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and claimed they were trying to stop illegal transactions on his accounts. Under this pretext, the man was convinced to withdraw all his savings and transfer them to so-called safe accounts. Over the course of several days, he sent large sums to the bank cards provided. Additionally, part of the funds was transferred through money transfer systems abroad. Later, the Nizhnekamsk resident realized he had fallen victim to a scam and contacted the police.
