The state committee assessed the scandalous examination of the house in Kazan.

      The Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites reacted to the resonant expertise concerning the building "Filimonov House" in Kazan, where the revolutionary and public figure Mullanuar Vakhirov was born in August 1885. The document sparked widespread public response due to the expert's conclusion that Vakhirov allegedly does not represent historical and cultural uniqueness. The house is located at 70 Petersburg Street. The act published on the committee's website states that the building has lost its historical and cultural value: the original layout has not been preserved, the interiors have been remodeled into office spaces, and the memorial part associated with Vakhirov's birthplace has disappeared during reconstruction. According to the expert, it is the loss of the memorial component that makes it impossible to recognize the object as a historical monument. The author of the expertise is entrepreneur Alexander Martynov — a member of the Council for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Peoples of Russia under the Governor of the Ivanovo Region. In the document, he also stated that Mullanuar Vakhirov's revolutionary activities do not require commemoration, as the figure is not exceptional from a historical perspective. The RT Committee emphasized that Martynov was engaged as a contractor on a legal basis — following competitive procedures, but reminded that the expert bears personal legal responsibility for the conclusions made. At the same time, the position of the author of the expertise raised serious questions for the agency. The committee noted that the assertion of Vakhirov's "non-uniqueness" appears, to put it mildly, controversial. According to the representatives of the agency, Mullanuar Vakhirov is one of the key figures in the history of Tatarstan in the early 20th century, having played a significant role in the formation of Tatar Soviet statehood and in the ideology of national self-determination within the Soviet project. After completing all mandatory public discussion procedures, the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites intends to return the expertise for revision.
