Tatarstan doctors saved a pregnant woman with a kidney tumor rupture.

      Thanks to the coordinated work of urologists and specialists from the Perinatal Center, both the life of the mother and the health of the future child were saved. In Tatarstan, doctors from the Republican Clinical Hospital (RKB) performed surgery on a pregnant woman who experienced a rupture of a kidney tumor at 22 weeks of pregnancy. The coordinated efforts of urologists and specialists from the Perinatal Center made it possible to save both the mother's life and the health of the future child. This was reported by the clinic's press service. Everything happened suddenly: the woman was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain, causing her to begin losing consciousness. An emergency ultrasound suspected a neoplasm in the kidney, and a subsequent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) confirmed the worst fears — the tumor had ruptured. The patient required urgent surgical intervention. The doctors faced a complex task: to remove the tumor while preserving both the pregnancy and the kidney itself. A team of professionals began their work. Head of the Urology Department No. 2, Mikhail Ulyanin, along with urologists Iskander Khusnullin and Vera Suslova, meticulously removed the tumor from the kidney over the course of two hours. Throughout the operation, the condition of the woman and the baby was monitored by leading specialists: anesthesiologist-resuscitator Svetlana Bulashova and head of the Perinatal Center at RKB, Nigina Nigmatulina. The operation was successful. Preliminary histological examination showed that the tumor could be malignant. The final verdict was to be issued by the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary (RKOD) of Tatarstan. Fortunately, further investigation did not confirm oncology — the dangerous diagnosis was lifted.

      The department reported that the woman successfully carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth to a healthy boy weighing 3700 grams.
