"He's saying they were repaying a debt": why the FSB detained the son of the chief police officer of Zainsk

      As reported by "Real Time," operatives from the FSB in Tatarstan secretly detained Artur Kamalyukov in Zainsk, whose father heads the local police department. The Investigative Committee has opened a case against the younger Kamalyukov for receiving a commercial bribe while serving as the head of the transport workshop at JSC "Zainsky Sugar." Sources from "Real Time" note that he is currently suspected of receiving "kickbacks" amounting to no less than 300,000 rubles from an individual entrepreneur, a charge which the colonel's son denies. Today, a preventive measure was chosen for him. On March 24, a case of commercial bribery was initiated against the 34-year-old head of the sugar factory workshop, Artur Kamalyukov.

      The suspect has previously worked as a leading specialist in the organizational department of the Zainsky District administration and managed the local youth karting club "Virazh." The position of head of the police department in the Zainsky District was taken by Oleg Kamalyukov in February 2025.

      Artur Olegovich's father, Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is much better known; he previously held leadership positions in the police departments of the Sarmanovsky and Yelabuga districts and was appointed head of the Zainsk police department in February 2025. His official biography emphasizes that he dedicated ten years of his service to combating corruption and economic crimes.

      According to sources from "Real Time," a case against the son of Zainsk's chief police officer was initiated in the Zainsk inter-district department of the Investigative Committee this Tuesday, and an arrest was made with the involvement of FSB operatives. The reason for the pursuit was statements about crimes, one of which was filed by the owners of an individual entrepreneur who had been providing specific services for transporting sugar beet pulp from the local factory since 2020. According to them, after signing such a contract in 2025 with the deputy general director of JSC "Zainsky Sugar," they received a call from the new head of the transport workshop stating that profits needed to be shared from then on... and that there would be no problems with service delivery and signing new contracts.

      According to the entrepreneurs, this was about "gratitude" in monetary form, and they had to agree. After that, the workshop head repeatedly warned them about the imminent transfer of funds from the company's account and specified the expected amount of "gratitude," the applicants stated, confessing that in this way, in 2025-2026, they transferred him no less than 300,000 rubles. They particularly emphasized that they did not lend Kamalyukov money and never took loans from him.

      The detained individual, during interrogation, denied the allegations of commercial bribery, stating that there were financial relations between him and the individual entrepreneur's family. "Allegedly, he lent 350,000 rubles for the purchase of rubber, and this debt was repaid to him in installments—both in cash and via transfers," shared one of the sources close to the investigation regarding the suspect's position.

      The second statement regarding the alleged crime, according to "Real Time," came from the management of JSC. At the same time, the factory gave Kamalyukov a positive reference, stating that since his employment in the fall of 2024, there had been no complaints about his work.

      However, this reference, as well as a letter of gratitude from the head of the Zainsky District and the authority of his father, did not help the son of the VIP police officer today. The court arrested him for two months, rejecting the defense's petitions for house arrest.

      The press service of the Investigative Committee for Tatarstan confirmed the information about the criminal prosecution of the workshop head.

      In the near future, Artur Kamalyukov is expected to be charged with receiving illegal remuneration in a large amount under part 7 of article 204 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

      As noted by one of the sources from "Real Time," the head of the police department attended today's Zainsk court session regarding the preventive measure as a listener.
