      On International Theatre Day, a solemn ceremony for the special award "Golden Mask" took place in Moscow. The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, was awarded a special prize for his support of theatrical art in Russia. This award is considered one of the most prestigious in the theatrical field and emphasizes the significance of personal contributions to the preservation and development of the traditions of Russian theatre, reports the official channel of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. While presenting the award to the Minister of Culture of Tatarstan, Irada Ayupova, the chairman of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Mashkov, noted: "Of course, theatrical art consists of great actors, artists, and playwrights, but it also includes those who believe in this art and support it. Last year, we held the award ceremony in the newest theatre named after Galiaskar Kamal in Kazan. It is an amazing theatre, and, of course, Rustam Nurgaleevich does incredibly much for the preservation of the multinational culture of Russia and for its development." Irada Ayupova, accepting the award, emphasized that the leadership of the republic has deep respect for theatrical art and strives to create the best conditions for its development. The minister also reminded everyone of the historical context: "On April 5, 1999, the 'Golden Mask' was awarded to the first President of the republic, Mintimer Sharipovich Shaimiev. At that time, it was presented by Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov, who jokingly noted that the mask is awarded for the best male role among governors. To which Mintimer Sharipovich replied with a quip – 'Politics without a mask is impossible, but it is also not easy under a mask,' – which has already become a catchphrase."

      In conclusion of her speech, Irada Ayupova noted that it is especially honorable to receive this award in the year of the 120th anniversary of Tatar theatre and told those present about those who were at the origins of Tatar theatrical art.
