Tatarstan residents were explained how to connect a "second hand" for protection against fraudsters.
A trusted person will be able to block suspicious transfers but will not gain access to the accounts. In Tatarstan, banks have begun to implement a service that allows clients to connect a so-called "second hand" to their accounts. This is additional protection for those who are more often caught by scammers — pensioners and teenagers. The new opportunity was announced by the deputy manager of the Branch - National Bank for the Republic of Tatarstan, Nuraniya Khairullina, at a press conference in Tatmedia. The essence is simple: the client chooses a person they trust, and that person gets the right to approve or decline certain transactions. At the same time, the trusted person does not have access to the accounts; they cannot withdraw money or transfer it to themselves. They only monitor suspicious withdrawals. The account owner decides which specific transfers and for what amount need to be approved. If the transaction seems strange to the trusted person, they can impose a ban. However, it must be done within 12 hours — if the bank does not receive approval within this time, the transfer will not take place. This new option can be especially useful for families with teenage children, who are often drawn into drop schemes by scammers. Young people do not always understand the consequences when they agree to transfer money at the request of strangers. Parents will be able to insure against such risks. If the need for control has disappeared, the service can be disabled. However, it cannot be done quickly — the bank will process the request within a day. The delay is intentional, so that scammers do not have the opportunity to persuade the victim to instantly disable protection under pressure.
