The State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism reported on how ecotourism is developing in Tatarstan.

The focus of the work is not only on creating a comfortable infrastructure but also on preserving the ecological balance of unique natural locations. The Republic of Tatarstan continues to develop a systematic approach to the development of rural, natural, and ecological tourism. The focus of the work is not only on creating a comfortable infrastructure but also on preserving the ecological balance of unique natural locations. One of the main tasks in recent years has been to expand the tourist image of the republic beyond the traditional route "Kazan - Bolgar - Sviyazhsk." The region is being revealed from a new perspective thanks to the development of a network of eco-trails. A special place here is occupied by the Volga Trail - a pedestrian route along the right bank of the Volga, stretching 350 kilometers, with an additional segment in Kazan. The trail creates a unified space for humans, nature, history, and culture, practically implementing the principles of sustainable development. It is a true "pearl thread" on which 26 specially protected natural areas, more than 100 cultural and historical monuments, as well as the customs and lifestyles of 6 ethnic groups are strung. By the end of 2025, more than 66 thousand tourists had traveled along the Volga Trail.

Key points of attraction are becoming new tourist and recreational clusters (TRCs), aimed at revealing the natural potential of the region. Among them is the TRC "Dingez - the Sea of Tatarstan," located at the confluence of the Volga and Kama rivers. This eco-resort offers the best panoramic views, caves, vineyards, a cheese factory, glamping sites, and fishing bases - everything for a comfortable year-round vacation starting from the visitor center "Yurievskaya Cave." Another flagship project is the TRC "Mirrors of Tatarstan," with the Blue Lakes as its core - a state natural reserve of regional significance. The unique composition of the water from the springs classifies them as a rare type of karst origin.

Supporting entrepreneurial initiatives in natural areas has become a separate priority. Businesses developing glamping sites, non-capital recreation facilities, and eco-farms receive comprehensive support: from consulting and educational assistance to project support at all stages of implementation. This work is carried out by the Directorate for Natural Territories of the Institute for the Development of Cities of Tatarstan.

"Today, the network of rural recreation in the republic includes 63 facilities - from modern recreation centers and country hotels to glamping sites and campgrounds, some of which were created with the participation of funds from the national project "Tourism and Hospitality." Here we can definitely talk about an increase in the number of people accommodated in rural recreation facilities over the year. If in 2024 the figure was around 100 thousand people, then in 2025 the number of guests exceeded 130 thousand," said Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for Tourism.

In 2025, the opening of nine new facilities took place in various districts of the republic:

      · Zelenodolsky District

      · Pestrechinsky District

      · Tukayevsky District

      · Laishevsky District

      · Mamadyshsky District

      · Rybno-Slobodsky District

      · Arsky District

Work on the development of ecological tourism is being carried out within the framework of the national project "Ecological Well-Being," which emphasizes the strategic significance of this direction for the region. A systematic approach allows not only to enhance tourist attractiveness but also to foster a culture of responsible consumption and careful attitude towards the environment.
