The birthday boy was congratulated by the head of the district Ildus Zaripov and a member of the "United Russia" faction in the State Council of Tatarstan Danis Zaripov, who presented him with a personalized hockey jersey with the surname SAFIN and the number 104. This was reported by the press secretary of the Laishevsky district. Gabdrakhman Safin is the oldest and most devoted fan of the hockey club Ak Bars. Danis Zaripov, addressing the veteran, emphasized: "Thanks to such support, we confidently marched towards victory." The veteran was born on March 31, 1922, in the village of Simetbash in the Arsky district. In 1941, he went to the front and ended up in an airborne unit. After training in Ivanovo, he was sent to Stalingrad. In one of the attacks, about 30 soldiers survived from the entire regiment, the rest were taken prisoner. Thus began long months of captivity for Gabdrakhman AkhmetSafovich. In captivity, he met Musa Jalil and Abdulla Alish. In March 1943, he managed to escape. After that, as part of the 150th regiment of the 50th Guards Division, he participated in the storming of Berlin and was awarded a letter of gratitude from Joseph Stalin. In 1949, the front-line soldier faced a new trial: he was arrested. The sentence was severe - 20 years of imprisonment. The basis included the fact that in captivity he read a newspaper published by Musa Jalil, who was then considered a traitor. Neither Stalin's gratitude nor the medal "For the Capture of Berlin" helped. Only after the leader's death, in the autumn of 1955, by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Gabdrakhman Safin was rehabilitated.

      Upon returning home, the veteran got married and raised five children. His youngest son is the famous Tatar singer Gabdelfat Safin, who made a documentary film about his father. The veteran has been awarded medals "For Diligent Labor during the Great Patriotic War," anniversary awards, and has been honored with the title "Veteran of Labor." Today he lives in the village of Singeli in the Laishevsky district surrounded by the care of his relatives and loved ones.
