The XI Annual Chess Tournament in memory of Vitaly Gainullovich Timiryasov took place in Aksubayevo.
The tournament, traditionally gathering chess enthusiasts, has a beautiful and long history. First and foremost, it is associated with the name of the founder and first rector of our university, Vitaly Gainullovich Timiryasov, a native of the Aksubayevsky district. Throughout his life, Vitaly Gainullovich fondly and gratefully remembered his small homeland. One of the oldest schools in Tatarstan, Aksubayevo Secondary School No. 1, which he attended, was named after Vitaly Gainullovich Timiryasov. Every year, a tournament in his name is held there. It is pleasing that each year the tournament attracts more participants: this year's competition saw over 100 schoolchildren take part. The matches were not only held among young intellectuals – a separate competition was organized for their teacher-coaches as well. The youngest participant was barely 7 years old, while the oldest was 85. The university expresses gratitude to the head of the Aksubayevsky district, Almaz Minnullov, for the continuity of traditions, support, and assistance in organizing the tournament!
