In the Republic of Tatarstan, there are plans to limit the number of pets in apartments, stating that no more than one dog or cat may reside in an area of 18 square meters.
Tatarstan is considering the possibility of introducing a set of new regulations for keeping pets in apartment buildings. The corresponding draft resolution of the republican cabinet of ministers is currently undergoing anti-corruption expertise. According to the text of the document, its authors propose to establish a clear norm for the area of living space in the republic that corresponds to the presence of one pet. "To keep no more than one dog or no more than one cat in residential premises of an apartment building for every 18 square meters of total living space," the document states. In addition, the text of the document mentions a proposal to introduce restrictions for certain types of housing. In particular, it is planned to prohibit the keeping of potentially dangerous dog breeds in communal apartments or premises where several families live simultaneously. It was previously reported that two attacks by an aggressive dog on children occurred in Kazan. As a result of the incidents, one pet died from injuries, and a child was injured. As clarified by a correspondent of "Tatarstan News" from the TNV channel, both incidents involving the aggressive dog occurred on the same day. It is worth noting that it was previously announced that euthanasia of stray dogs is permitted in emergency cases in Tatarstan.
