       Based on the provided data, the total debt of enterprises in the Republic of Tatarstan for loans reached 1.6 trillion rubles, increasing by 26.8% since the beginning of the year. The financial situation of enterprises in Tatarstan significantly worsened by the end of 2025. According to data announced by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic, Oleg Pelevin, the total losses of companies increased by 3.9 times and exceeded 254 billion rubles. At the same time, total profit decreased by 0.8 percent, amounting to 1 trillion rubles. The total debt of enterprises for loans reached 1.6 trillion rubles, increasing by 26.8 percent since the beginning of the year. Overdue debt grew by 60.4 percent, reaching 34.6 billion rubles. The average debt burden is estimated at 21.9 percent; however, in certain sectors, the situation is much more serious, writes Kazanfirst. In food production, losses increased by 7.8 times, profit decreased by almost a third, and the debt burden reached almost half of the turnover. In the production of rubber and plastic products, losses increased 62 times, and profit was cut by more than half. Metallurgy recorded a 79 percent drop in profit, while the automotive industry saw losses increase by 44.9 times with nearly a 50 percent decrease in profit. At the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic noted a 23.9 percent decrease in profit tax revenues for January-February (to 17.8 billion rubles). Contributions from the banking sector decreased significantly (by 62 percent) and from the oil and gas industry (by 47 percent). Despite the negative trends, the gross regional product of Tatarstan in 2025 amounted to 5.73 trillion rubles, increasing by 2.9 percent. The volume of industrial production exceeded 6 trillion rubles, and its index reached 109.9 percent. The backbone of the region's economy still consists of manufacturing industries, including petrochemicals and the defense industry. It was reported recently that Tatarstan produces 7% of the total milk volume in Russia.
