Russians were told how vacation will be paid during the May holidays.
Non-working public holidays in May extend the vacation period during leave but are not subject to payment. This was reported by Tatiana Golubeva, a senior lecturer at the Department of Entrepreneurial, Labor, and Corporate Law of RANEPA. "According to Article 120 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, non-working public holidays that fall during the period of annual paid leave are not included in the number of calendar days of leave. This means that such days extend the actual period of rest but are not subject to payment," Golubeva said in an interview with "RIA Novosti." The expert provided an example: if you take leave from May 1 for 14 calendar days, the actual rest will last 16 days due to the holidays, but only 14 will be paid. Similarly, if you take leave from April 29 for 15 days, the total rest time will be 17 days, but only 15 will be paid. According to Golubeva, the choice of the vacation period depends on the employee's goals. If the priority is to receive more vacation pay, it is more advantageous to choose months with a larger number of working days.
"If the goal is to increase the duration of rest, the vacation can be planned taking into account the public holidays: they will extend the period of absence from work without using additional vacation days," she concluded.
