      Kazan (Volga) Federal University has entered the ranks of the largest universities in Russia by the number of budget places, taking third place in the corresponding ranking of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. As reported by "RIA Novosti" in the press service of the agency, KFU has about 21,000 budget places. The university is surpassed only by Ural Federal University, which has 30,000, and Lomonosov Moscow State University with 23,500 places. The top five also includes Bauman Moscow State Technical University and the Higher School of Economics, each with 19,400 budget places. In addition, the top ten largest universities in the country by this indicator include Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Siberian Federal University, Southern Federal University, Don State Technical University, and MIREA. In these educational institutions, the number of budget places ranges from 15,500 to 18,700.
