The FSB prevented a terrorist attack at the Ministry of Defense building in Moscow.

      FSB officers detained a 45-year-old Russian man in Moscow who, according to the security service, planned to detonate an improvised explosive device near the facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The man acted in the interests of banned Ukrainian organizations on the territory of the country. A criminal case has been initiated against him, and he has been placed in custody. This was reported by TASS, citing the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB. "A citizen of Russia born in 1981 was detained in Moscow, who planned to carry out an explosion in the interests of banned Ukrainian terrorist organizations on the territory of the Russian Federation near the Ministry of Defense facilities," the PRC of the FSB reported. The agency clarified that the detained individual independently established contact with representatives of Ukrainian structures and arrived in the capital at their request. He was promised assistance in leaving for Ukraine after the explosion. There, according to the security service, he was supposed to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. A smartphone used for communication with the curator was seized from the suspect. The PRC added that the individual admitted his involvement in the crime. Investigative actions are being conducted by the FSB in Moscow and the Moscow region. A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for liability for participation in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist on the territory of Russia. The man is currently in custody. Operational and investigative measures in the case are ongoing.

      Recall that on April 2, FSB officers discovered an electric scooter with an improvised explosive device at the entrance to a business center in Moscow, intended for an assassination attempt on a high-ranking law enforcement officer. According to the agency, the explosive device was disguised as a household charging station and was located in the trunk. The explosion was planned to be carried out remotely at the moment when the intended target was to visit the building.
