In Tatarstan, a four-year program aimed at developing horse breeding is proposed to be launched starting in 2027. The allocation of subsidies and support for equestrian sports is being discussed.
In Tatarstan, a new program for the development of horse breeding and equestrian sports is planned to be launched in 2027. The head of the Republic's Investment Development Agency, Taliya Minullina, made this statement at the forum "Investment Move by Horse: Tyulyachi," noting that the initiative was supported by the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, as reported by RBC. Minullina emphasized that the Tyulyachinsky district must take the most active part in it, as specialists have recreated a unique Tatar breed of horses, which can help build an investment policy, promote a local brand, and attract investors. According to the statement by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan, Gelyus Bayazitov, a patent for the recreation of the Tatar breed of horses was obtained back in 2019, and this year the population has increased by another 100 animals (there were 954 in May last year). In total, according to specialists' estimates, there are currently about 31,000 horses of various breeds in the republic. Subsidies and support Under the new program, an increase in the horse population is expected, as well as a rise in demand for horse meat, the development of equestrian sports, and agritourism. Starting in 2027, it is planned to subsidize 50% of the cost of purchasing mares from outside Tatarstan for breeding, as well as half of the costs for the construction or major renovation of facilities for the subsequent maintenance of the animals. Based on the proposal, subsidies are also planned for the purchase of 20 units of equipment for the production of kumys. In the horse breeding farm located in Tyulyachi, the creation of a cultural center focused on horse breeding is planned, and a total of five such centers are to be established across the republic. The development of equestrian sports will take place at the Kazan Hippodrome, as well as in equestrian sports schools in the region. In addition, it is proposed to establish an Olympic reserve center in Kazan. A breeding center will also be created for the development of the Tatar breed in two directions: productive (for meat) and sports-entertainment. It was previously reported that competitions of the Spartakiad of the Peoples of Russia will take place in Kazan.
