A woman died in Tatarstan in a fire caused by a candle.

      A fire occurred in one of the corridor-type houses on Studencheskaya Street in Nizhnekamsk. As reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Tatarstan, when firefighters arrived at the scene, a sofa and a wardrobe were burning in a one-room apartment on the second floor. During the firefighting process, smoke divers discovered a 42-year-old woman lying in the corridor on the second floor. Firefighters carried her out of the smoke zone and handed her over to medical personnel. Unfortunately, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the medics pronounced the woman dead. Three people evacuated from the house before the firefighters arrived. The preliminary cause of the fire was careless handling of candles. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: burning candles should not be left unattended. Even if leaving the room for a short time, all sources of open flame must be extinguished, and stable candle holders should be used for candles. Candles should be placed away from combustible materials. They should not be placed near curtains, paper, furniture, books, and other flammable items. Children and pets should not be allowed near candles.
