The President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, visited the Center for Unique Mastery (CUM), which was ceremoniously opened for visitors in the renovated building of the former central department store on Moskovskaya Street, 2, the press service of the President of Tatarstan reported. The modern CUM is a strategic project aimed at preserving and continuing the development of Tatarstan's cultural code. The entire space of the building is dedicated to workshops, creative master classes, and exhibition areas. There is also a gastronomic sector and halls for events. Minnikhanov and other guests were greeted with a theatrical prologue "City of Masters." There was also a performance by the children's Tatar theater studio "Apush." The President of Tatarstan inspected the creative workshops and exhibition areas. Here, the workshop of Arabic calligraphy "Islam Art," a workshop for creating author jewelry and accessories, a space with Tatar ethnic instruments (Alpar), a carpet weaving workshop "Magic Threads," a willow weaving studio, and products from the Alexeyevskaya artistic weaving factory are presented. Minnikhanov learned about the work of the Kazan embroidery school, where various embroidery techniques are taught, including one of the famous Kazan Tatar embroideries - sewing with kanitel. He then visited a fabric painting workshop, a souvenir production workshop from leather, and other spaces. On one of the floors, there are areas with a collection of traditional Kukmor felt boots and leather products with national ornamentation - Tatar boots (ichigami), home slippers, and other products. On the basement floor of the CUM, products from the Tatar Book Publishing House are displayed. The opening program included master classes on folk crafts and the preparation of traditional dishes. All visitors can familiarize themselves with an exhibition of costumes of the peoples of the Volga region, an exhibition of paintings by artist Guzel Khaibullova, as well as an exhibition featuring more than 600 antique samovars and other items for Tatar tea drinking from the personal collection of Rustem Akhmedzyanov.
