This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan. Moscow took first place in the nationwide ranking, with 12.9 million people staying in hotels. Krasnodar Krai ranked second with 9.3 million tourists. Next were St. Petersburg (7 million) and the Moscow region (6.4 million). Tatarstan, with a figure of 2.9 million, closed the top five leaders. The total tourist flow to the republic in 2025 amounted to 4.5 million people. This is 200,000 more than the previous year. The increase in the number of guests staying in hotels and inns also amounted to 200,000 people. The volume of services provided in the tourism sector, taking into account related industries—expenses for accommodation, food, transportation, purchases, and entertainment—reached 120 billion rubles last year. This is 13 billion more than in 2024. Guests of the republic most often visit the Kazan Kremlin, the island-town of Sviyazhsk, Yelabuga, and Great Bolgar. The launch of the M12 highway section to Yekaterinburg changed transportation logistics and made Kazan more accessible for travelers by car from the eastern regions of the country. The increase in car travelers became one of the main reasons for the increase in tourist flow. Overall in Russia, car tourists accounted for 60 percent of the increase, and in Tatarstan, this share is also very significant. Since 2025, at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a new national project "Tourism and Hospitality" has been launched in the tourism sector, which replaced the previous national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry." From 2021 to 2025, more than 2.4 billion rubles were allocated for the implementation of these projects. The funds were used to support public and entrepreneurial initiatives: the creation of modular non-capital accommodation facilities, the purchase of tourist equipment, the improvement of beaches, the organization of events, the implementation of tourism code projects in the cities of Tatarstan, as well as the establishment and operation of the Center for the Development of Human Resources in the Tourism Industry in Kazan.
