The Cabinet proposed to increase the cost of obtaining Russian citizenship to 50 thousand rubles.

      The Russian government has submitted a package of bills to the State Duma aimed at increasing a number of state fees. The documents are available in the electronic database of the parliament. According to the initiative, the fee for acquiring Russian citizenship and renouncing it is proposed to be increased to 50,000 rubles, reports "RIA Novosti." The government also proposes to raise the fee for issuing residence permits for foreign citizens and stateless persons to 30,000 rubles. A fee of 6,000 rubles is proposed for replacing a residence permit in case of loss, damage, or other grounds. Additionally, a fee of 5,000 rubles is planned for issuing a temporary residence permit in cases of loss, damage, or replacement of an identity document, as well as for processing a temporary residence permit for educational purposes in similar cases. At the same time, the government proposes to exempt from the fee for obtaining acquired Russian citizenship foreign citizens who previously held Soviet citizenship, as well as participants in the state program for the voluntary resettlement of compatriots from abroad and their family members relocating to Russia for permanent residence. The explanatory materials also indicate that foreign citizens and stateless persons who have signed a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of Russia or other military formations for a period of one year during the special military operation, as well as their family members, including in cases of the death of these citizens, will be exempt from the state fee for processing citizenship and residence permits.
