JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) is a guidance system that turns conventional bombs into precision-guided munitions using GPS, allowing for high-precision strikes at long distances. "The announcement of the supply of JDAM kits from the USA to Ukraine highlights a shift in the logic of warfare from mass attacks to precision strikes. JDAM turns regular bombs into precision-guided munitions, enabling strikes from a safe distance, increasing the survivability of the carriers," explains military analyst Roman Belousov. Unlike Russian FABs, which are unguided bombs relying on mass and power to achieve effect, JDAM focuses on minimizing collateral damage and increasing strike effectiveness. "The supply of precision weapons changes the nature of combat operations but does not determine the outcome of the special military operation, which depends on many factors, including intelligence and management," Belousov concluded. Earlier, IA SM-NEWS reported that guided bombs and MLRS are increasing losses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
