The KFU warmly welcomed the Consul General of the Republic of India in Kazan, Mr. Jaysundhara D.

On May 5, Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov became the venue for a significant diplomatic and cultural event — the official visit of the Consul General of the Republic of India in Kazan, Mr. Jaysundhar D. The visit confirmed the high international status of KIU as a leading scientific and educational center in the Volga region and one of the most active universities in Russia in the expert agenda of BRICS.

      Traditions of hospitality

Mr. Consul was welcomed by a delegation headed by the rector of KIU, Asiya Timiryasova, as well as vice-rectors and an honorary presentation of national dishes and costumes of the Republic of Tatarstan. This warm, homely reception set the tone for all subsequent communication, emphasizing the unity of cultures and sincere respect for the Indian guest.

      Book wisdom and cultural code

The university tour began with a story about the history of the university, followed by a visit to the KIU publishing house "Poznanije." The Consul General was presented with an impressive exhibition of books, among which special attention was given to publications on Tatar culture and the history of the Tatar people, works from KIU's research institutes, as well as relevant studies on combating corruption and developing civil society institutions. A particular interest was sparked by the book "BRICS: A Russian Perspective," as well as a unique publication released in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory — "The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People," authored by Brazilian researchers who, as emphasized, decided to be the voice of truth. Artistic literature, a book of poems by Chinese authors, and the biography of the founder and first rector of KIU, Vitaly Gainullovich Timiryasov, were also presented. The guest highly appreciated the university's scientific journals: Russian Journal of Economics and Law and Journal of Digital Technologies and Law.

Art without borders: India through the eyes of students and teachers

The Consul was introduced to the comfortable dormitories of KIU, where all conditions for student living have been created. This was followed by a vibrant exhibition of artistic works by KIU students dedicated to Indian culture. Mr. Jaysundhar D. was particularly impressed by the paintings of KIU teacher Polina Ilyushkina, created based on her travels in India. Each canvas, according to the artist, tells its unique story and bears the imprint of time.

The KIU Museum and BRICS Laboratory: pride of the university

At the KIU museum, the guest was reminded of the glorious history of the university, its victories, and achievements. For example, a bright event such as the visit of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, who gave the university a "5+" in a symbolic grade book. Mr. Jaysundhar left a memorable message for the university, which will now be kept in the museum. The central element of the exhibition was the "Great Teachers of BRICS" exhibition, where the attention of the high guest was drawn to a symbolic tree with matryoshkas styled after the peoples of BRICS countries.

The culmination was a visit to the legendary BRICS auditorium, opened at KIU personally by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russia's sherpa in BRICS, Sergey Ryabkov. Here, the main milestones in the history of the association were presented. Professor, advisor to the rector of KIU, Oleg Agapov, detailed the project "BRICS: Values that Unite Us" to the consul, as well as the BRICS Youth Day, which was successfully held at KIU. It was within the walls of our university that the BRICS Youth Anthem was performed for the first time. Oleg Agapov also spoke about the round table "Dynamics of BRICS Development 2024–2026: The Role of India," where the civilizational role and global initiatives of the Indian side were discussed in detail.

Students from India studying at KIU spoke before the Consul, sharing their sincere impressions that living in Russia is a wonderful and amazing experience. In turn, Rector Asiya Timiryasova emphasized that the university is ready to continue accepting students from India, creating the best conditions for them and immersing them in a unique educational and cultural environment.

      Business part: prospects for cooperation

The main part of the meeting included: Rector of KIU Asiya Timiryasova, President of the Public Organization "BRICS. World of Traditions" Lyudmila Sekacheva, First Vice-Rector Igor Bikeyev, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Ruslan Zagitov, and Head of the Department of International Relations Ekaterina Nikitina.

The rector presented KIU as a leading scientific and educational center in the Volga region with more than 16,000 students, emphasizing the great attention to foreign students. A vivid example was given: students from India participated with great interest in the Orthodox holiday of Epiphany — they dipped into the ice hole, and they really enjoyed this experience. The rector also spoke about the extensive training program available to foreign students at KIU, preparatory Russian language schools, training in English, and listed possible areas for future cooperation.

Mr. Jaysundhar D. noted that he is deeply impressed by the university's research and sees broad opportunities for cooperation between KIU and universities in India.

      One university, one family

Lyudmila Sekacheva, President of the organization "BRICS. World of Traditions," reminded of the thesis by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov that KIU is a university ready for the most active cooperation within BRICS. She spoke about the cultural and business program "Peoples of BRICS Choose Life," the project "Great Teachers of BRICS" in collaboration with the Republic of Tatarstan and KIU named after V.G. Timiryasov, and also presented the consul with commemorative gifts.

In response, the Consul General presented the university with a luxurious edition "Style of India." The rector of KIU presented the guest with a book from the KIU publishing house about the famous scientist K. Fuks, the publication "The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People," as well as books dedicated to the traditions of the Tatars and the peoples of the republic, and a particularly valuable copy — "Treasures of Tatar Cuisine" with authentic recipes.

The visit confirmed: KIU is not only open to the world but also shapes the global youth and educational agenda, where India and Russia are reliable partners and friends.
