A children's taekwondo tournament in memory of Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov took place in Kazan.

      In the Kazan sports complex "Dynamo," an interregional children's tournament in ITF taekwondo was held today in memory of the First President of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov. A total of 137 young athletes from Tatarstan competed on the tatami, many of whom came from Naberezhnye Chelny. According to the president of the federation, Adam Khibalaev, the main goals of the tournament were the patriotic education of youth and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. "It was not difficult to gather the children: all our clubs are both general education schools and sports complexes. Our tournament is always a sports holiday for parents and children. This time, the representation of the Chechen Republic provided gifts, souvenirs, and unusual diplomas. I didn't even expect such a stir – 137 participants," he said. The competitions were held in a format of matches in age categories from 7 to 17 years. The judging was provided by the board of the ITF Taekwondo Federation of Tatarstan. The head of the Representation of the Head of the Chechen Republic in Tatarstan, Eli Kagarbekov, noted that this is the first tournament of this format in Kazan. "We tried to pleasantly surprise the children. We specially ordered caps from the Chechen Republic and brought chocolate candies produced by us. Every participant, regardless of their place, will receive gifts and certificates," he explained. The deputy head of the Public Support Headquarters of "United Russia" in Tatarstan, Anastasia Isaeva, added that the competitions were held on specialized flooring purchased with the assistance of the deputy corps and partners: "You can see these safe, maximally comfortable surfaces. The Taekwondo Federation is our constant partner within the framework of the 'Precedence' project, which we have been implementing for the second year." The organizers confirmed that the tournament is planned to be made traditional and held annually on Victory Day. Adam Khibalaev also provided statistics on the development of the sport in the republic: "We started in 1999 with one hall and three participants. Now there are 15 sections in Kazan, where about 250 children are engaged. This year, an additional hall will open in the TC 'Frant.' The number of children increases every year. Taekwondo is an optimal, not too harsh martial art that strengthens the child's inner core. We do not aim to make every champion – mass participation is important."

      One of the participants, Maxim Zlatoustov (school No. 18, coach Andrey Yuryevich), has been practicing for five years and took first place in the previous tournament. "I prepared for a long time, diligently. I have no doubt about victory. It is interesting to compete, to fight, to win and lose. I look up to the older ones – sports masters who have higher belts. I would like to connect my life with this sport," said the young athlete.
