Guests of Tatarstan have expanded tourist routes.

Travelers are increasingly choosing small towns and regions of the republic for their trips. With the onset of the warm season, tourists have stopped limiting themselves to walks around Kazan. This spring, the number of trips outside the capital increased by 13%, analysts from MegaFon reported based on their research. In April and May, the travel preferences of Russians in Tatarstan noticeably shifted towards small towns and villages with rich history and natural attractions. The leader in terms of visitor dynamics was Bolgar. With the arrival of warm weather, interest in ancient UNESCO monuments grew by 35% compared to the winter period. The second place was taken by Tyulyachi, where the number of guests increased by 32%. The popularity of this destination is explained by its unique location on the high bank of the Volga and its merchant heritage.

Positive dynamics are also observed in other directions. The influx of tourists to Buinsk increased by 27%, to Mendeleevsk by 22%, and to Yelabuga by 20%. The youngest and most high-tech city in Tatarstan also showed growth. Innopolis was just a step away from the top five with an increase of 18%.

Among the small settlements of the republic, the influx of car travelers to villages along the M12 "East" highway, as well as to locations along the banks of the Kama and Volga rivers, grew the most. For example, rural recreation in the village of Opushka attracted 54% more guests, the tourist flow to the Molostvov estate in the village of Dolgaya Polyana increased by 44%, and interest in fishing and beach spots in the village of Tenyki grew by 40%.

The village of Isakovo, where an ethnomuseum is located, also made it to the list of popular tourist locations. The growing flow of guests required improved connectivity: MegaFon specialists deployed new infrastructure here so that locals and travelers could freely use digital services. Now tourists arriving here can share content at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

"Tatarstan confidently remains among the top most desirable tourist destinations in Russia. Just during the May holidays, our subscribers from more than 75 regions of the country rested here. At the beginning of the active season, we always prepare our equipment for a larger number of users. And we carry out such work not only in cities. Since the beginning of spring, engineers have increased network capacity in the villages and settlements of seven districts of the republic," commented Valery Borunov, director of MegaFon in Tatarstan.

During the long spring holidays, the majority of guests were residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Volga regions. Travelers from Bashkortostan, Chuvashia, Mari El, Udmurtia, as well as from Samara, Ulyanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kirov regions visited most frequently.

Residents of remote areas have also started to visit the republic regularly. The leader in dynamics was the Stavropol Krai, from where 78% more tourists arrived here since the beginning of May compared to the previous year. Significant growth was also shown by the Transbaikal Krai (+41%) and the Republic of Tuva (+40%).
