Volodin criticized Reshetnikov's forecast of a one-third increase in utility tariffs: "Let him come and justify his position."

      The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin criticized the Ministry of Economic Development's forecast of a 33.5% increase in utility tariffs by 2029. The State Duma will take control of the issue regarding the possible rise in utility tariffs. This was reported on the official website of the parliament. "We cannot agree with this. So let's discuss it. Let the Minister of Economic Development come and justify his position before making such forecasts," Volodin said. According to the State Duma speaker, a large number of appeals from citizens have been received due to the projected 33.5% increase in tariffs over four years. At the same time, he noted, the ministry simultaneously forecasts a decrease in inflation. "It turns out that on the one hand, the Ministry of Economic Development talks about reducing inflation, predicting that it will drop to 5 percent by the end of the year. And on the other hand, it predicts a rise in tariffs — twice as much as inflation," he added. Volodin instructed the relevant committees of the State Duma to take control of the situation. The initiative was supported by deputies from various factions. During the meeting, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, the chairman of the competition protection committee Valery Gartung, and the deputy chairman of the construction and housing committee Svetlana Razvorotneva also spoke.

      Recall that in Tatarstan, starting in 2026, as in the rest of the country, a two-stage increase in utility tariffs began. From January 1, they increased by 1.7% for all districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. From October 1, the indexation will be 13.4% or 18.2% depending on the municipality. The maximum increase may affect large cities — Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Almetyevsk, and Nizhnekamsk.
