According to him, the job does not require a heavy workload, allows for visits to Sochi, and keeps one in line with state policy. Another source noted that Gladkov is well-regarded in the presidential administration.

      There are no official comments yet. Leonid Kalashnikov, the chairman of the State Duma committee on CIS affairs, stated that the parliament is not currently working on this appointment. "We have no preparations for this yet. I have also heard about these rumors, but the candidate must be proposed by the president. As soon as he proposes it, we will consider it immediately," he said.

      RBC notes that there was another option for the appointment — to the position of deputy minister of economic development. However, according to sources, this was declined.

      Gladkov was born in the Penza region in 1969. In the 2000s, he worked in the administration in various positions until he became the head of the city of Zarechny in 2009. He held this position for 7 years until he became the deputy governor of Sevastopol for internal policy. In 2018, he became the deputy chairman of the Stavropol government. Gladkov became the acting governor in November 2020, leading the region after the departure of heavyweight Yevgeny Savchenko.

      He resigned of his own accord on May 13. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, appointed the acting governor of the Belgorod region, veteran of the special military operation, and Hero of Russia Alexander Shuvaev.
