      As of today, 257 small technology companies are registered in Tatarstan. In terms of their number, the republic ranks fourth in Russia. This is 80 more than in the same period a year earlier, meaning a growth of almost 47%. The average revenue of Tatarstan's small technology companies in the first quarter reached 251 million rubles, which is 134% of the national average. Most often, small technology companies in Tatarstan operate in industry (25%) and the information technology sector (16%). Their activities are most commonly related to the development of artificial intelligence technologies, the creation of materials with new properties, robotics, microelectronics, biotechnology, as well as big data processing and software development. In total, there are 6,955 small technology companies operating across Russia. As noted by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan, together with subordinate development institutions, a set of measures to support small technology companies is being implemented in the region as part of the national project "Effective and Competitive Economy." This includes financial instruments, guarantees secured by intellectual property, preferential leasing, and other mechanisms provided by the Entrepreneurship Support Fund, the Regional Leasing Company of Tatarstan, and the Republic's Guarantee Fund. An annual competition for scientific and technological projects and companies called "Innovation of the Year" is also held in Tatarstan. It is organized with the support of the republic's government, the Tatarstan Investment and Venture Fund, and the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan. Applications for participation can be submitted through the competition's website. The status of a small technology company opens access to federal support measures, including grants from the Innovation Promotion Fund, industrial mortgages, preferential loans for agricultural producers, microgrants from Skolkovo, and other instruments.
