Road fatalities in Tatarstan have increased.

      In Tatarstan, 113 people have died in accidents since the beginning of the year, reported the chief state traffic inspector of the republic, Rustem Garipov. A total of 148 traffic accidents have been recorded, which is 26 more fatalities than in the same period last year. 1,268 people were injured, showing a decrease of 49 injured. The most severe consequences are from accidents due to crossing into oncoming traffic: 78 such accidents claimed the lives of 39 people, and another 128 were injured. Due to the fault of drunk drivers, there have been 32 accidents this year, resulting in 14 deaths and 47 injuries. One of the tragedies occurred on April 11 in the Alkeyevsky district: a drunk driver of a Lada collided with a tractor, after which the car went off the road, and the tractor overturned. As a result, five people died – both drivers and three passengers of the car aged between 26 and 31 years. The state traffic inspectorate urges drivers not to get behind the wheel while intoxicated and to strictly adhere to traffic rules.
