In Russia, the Federal Security Service has uncovered a large scheme by foreign intelligence agencies aimed at implanting malicious software on the mobile devices of high-ranking officials. According to the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the FSB, the main objectives of this operation were data collection, wiretapping phone conversations, as well as conducting acoustic and video surveillance. To implement this scheme, it was planned to involve the technical capabilities of major international IT companies. Versions are being considered regarding the involvement of the United Kingdom, the USA, and Canada in this case.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under articles on unauthorized access to computer information, as well as on the creation, distribution, and use of malicious programs.
Recall that back in mid-April, FSB officers detained three suspects in the preparation of an assassination attempt on a high-ranking law enforcement representative in Moscow. The detainees are citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, and Russia. It has been established that they were involved in the preparation of a terrorist act using a bomb-laden electric scooter.
Earlier, it was reported that intelligence agencies prevented a terrorist act in Tuapse.
