Rosaviation will lift restrictions on the airline Azur Air.
Rosaviation will lift the restrictions imposed on the airline Azur Air for almost three months. The head of the agency, Dmitry Yadrov, informed journalists about the signing of the relevant order this week. The restrictions on the operator's certificate were in effect from March 12 to June 8 of this year. "This week we will sign the order to lift the restrictions on Azur Air," Yadrov stated. According to him, the decision was made after the completion of the airline's inspection and assessment of the condition of the aircraft. The airline's management was previously instructed to prepare a plan to address the remarks. Following the inspection, Azur Air will withdraw three aircraft from operation due to deviations in engine parameters. Another six aircraft have been cleared for flights. In April, Yadrov reported that some of the airline's planes had already been removed from the schedule after the Rosaviation inspection. The first plan to address the remarks was submitted by the airline at the end of March. However, Rosaviation stated that the document had to be sent back for revision due to a formal approach to airworthiness issues. After that, the carrier submitted an updated plan. It should be noted that Rosaviation restricted the operator's certificate after a series of incidents, including engine failures and emergency landings. Prior to this, Rostransnadzor identified violations in the maintenance of the aircraft and recommended enhancing flight safety, conducting an internal audit of technical services, and reducing the flight program. Problems with aircraft maintenance were exacerbated by the cessation of official cooperation between Boeing and Russia in 2022. This forced carriers to independently service Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney engines. As of the end of 2025, Azur Air's fleet consisted of 12 aircraft "on the wing." The certificate restriction does not suspend the company's operations but requires compliance with the regulator's directives. As the largest Russian charter carrier, Azur Air operates flights from more than 40 cities in Russia to nearly 30 international destinations, primarily tourist resorts in the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia. The airline also operates flights from Kazan to cities such as Antalya and Dalaman (Turkey), Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt). Long-haul routes are also operated, for example, to Phu Quoc (Vietnam) and Goa (India).
