Yakutia plans to acquire three Tu-214 aircraft.
Three Tu-214 aircraft may be added to the fleet of aircraft in Yakutia in the coming years. Agreements on this are enshrined in a contract between the government of the republic and the United Aircraft Corporation, signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). This was reported by the press service of PJSC "UAC". In addition, the agreement includes the import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft. "Today, improving transport accessibility in the regions is one of the priority tasks of the aviation industry. I am confident that the new domestic SJ-100 and Tu-214 aircraft will help maintain and increase passenger traffic on local and interregional air routes in the Far East," said UAC General Director Vadim Badeha. According to the document, the republic plans to receive eight aircraft of Russian production. This includes five SJ-100 and three Tu-214. Their delivery is scheduled for 2027-2028. According to the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, aviation plays a special role for the region due to large distances and challenging climatic conditions. He noted that replenishing the aircraft fleet with new domestic liners will improve the transport accessibility of the territory. The day before, UAC General Director Vadim Badeha told TASS in an interview that this year it is planned to produce four Tu-214, and in 2027 - eight. In the future, the corporation expects to ramp up production to 20 aircraft per year. According to Badeha, the necessary capacities for serial production at the Kazan Aircraft Plant are already almost ready. The Tu-214 is a Russian twin-engine passenger aircraft of the medium-haul class, which is assembled at the Kazan Aircraft Plant (KAZ) named after S.P. Gorbunov - a branch of the Tupolev concern. It is capable of covering up to 4,500 kilometers. At the end of 2025, the upgraded version of the aircraft received approval for changes to the type design after completing certification tests. During the modernization, imported equipment, materials, and components were replaced with domestic analogs.
