From the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan" received: Consultation - warning about the intensity of meteorological phenomena from 21:00 on June 7 to 18:00 on June 8, 2026. On June 8, 2026, in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, the following is expected in places: • fog at night and in the morning; • thunderstorms during the day with a short-term increase in wind speed of 15-20 m/s; locally hail. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan recommends: In fog: If you notice the fog thickening while outdoors, take measures to avoid losing orientation in the forest or on the water. Fog poses a danger to all road users. When driving in fog, avoid unnecessary lane changes, overtaking, and passing. Most road traffic accidents in fog conditions occur with vehicles moving ahead. It is important to consider that fog reduces distance perception – it is advisable to increase the usual distance and reduce speed. Avoid sudden braking: if you need to stop, reduce speed smoothly. Press the brake pedal several times to signal drivers of vehicles behind you. Fatigue increases when driving in fog, so caution is essential. If possible, refrain from long-distance trips. During thunderstorms: If you are caught in a thunderstorm while on a bicycle or motorcycle, be sure to stop and wait for the storm at least 30 meters away from your vehicle. Do not continue driving a car, as there may be malfunctions in the electronics. Stop, close the car windows, and wait out the bad weather. If you are in an open area during a thunderstorm, it is recommended to lie on the ground (in sandy or rocky soil), preferably in a low area. It is important that there is no river, lake, or pond nearby, as water is a good conductor, and a lightning strike spreads within a radius of 100 meters from the water body. Drivers should be extremely careful while driving. Pedestrians should exercise increased caution when crossing highways and when near them. If possible, refrain from long-distance trips. In case of strong winds: 1. It is recommended to limit going outside, stay indoors. It is important not to leave children unattended. 2. If strong winds catch you outside, it is recommended to take shelter in underground passages or building entrances. Do not hide from strong winds near building walls, as roofing materials may fall from the roofs. This also applies to public transport stops and unfinished buildings. 3. Stay away from advertising billboards, signs, power lines. 4. Do not stay near large trees, and do not park vehicles near them – broken branches can pose a significant danger. 5. It is deadly dangerous to stand under power lines and approach downed power lines during strong winds. 6. Falling glass from upper floors, as well as roofing elements and decorative plaster blown off by the wind, can pose a danger. This threat increases near buildings that are under construction or being repaired. 7. All windows in houses must be tightly closed, and items that could fall outside should be removed from balconies and loggias. 8. Stay as far away from windows in living or working spaces as possible. If possible, refrain from long-distance trips. Pedestrians are advised to cross the street only at designated pedestrian crossings. Do not run across the road in front of moving vehicles, as the braking distance of a car significantly increases due to slippery road surfaces. Move only against the flow of traffic. Use a high-visibility vest or attach reflective elements to your clothing. In case of hail: If you are in a car, stay away from the windows, preferably turn your back to them (facing the center of the cabin) and cover your eyes with your hands or clothing. If you have small children with you, cover them with your body and also shield their eyes with clothing or your hand. It is best to lie on the floor (if the cabin size allows). If you are driving, stop moving. However, first check (if visibility allows) if there is nearby shelter (bridges, overpasses, garages, covered parking). If there is no suitable shelter nearby, make sure you are not in the middle of the roadway and, if possible, move closer to its edge. However, keep in mind that pulling off to the side (especially in a low area) is dangerous, as it may be washed away during heavy rainfall and possible flooding. Also, do not enter areas where hail accumulates, as your vehicle may lose control. Under no circumstances leave the vehicle during hail! Remember that the average duration of hail is about 6 minutes, and it rarely lasts longer than 15 minutes. If hail catches you indoors, stay as far away from windows as possible and do not leave the house. Do not use electrical appliances, as hail is usually accompanied by thunderstorm activity. If hail catches you outside, try to find shelter. Otherwise, protect your head from hail impacts. Do not go into low areas that can fill with water in minutes and turn into a swift current, or into areas with the highest accumulation of hail, where the layer is clearly thicker than around. Do not attempt to find shelter under trees, as there is a high risk of lightning strikes and large hailstones can break tree branches, which can cause you additional injuries. If you or someone nearby has been injured by large hailstones, be sure to contact emergency services, indicating the approximate size of the hailstones.
