      Doctors at the Emergency Medical Hospital in Naberezhnye Chelny have performed gallstone removal while preserving the gallbladder for the first time. This was reported by the press service of the medical institution. The first patient at the BSMMP, who underwent cholecystolithotomy, was a 43-year-old woman from Chelny. The doctors note that the operation is complex and quite rare. For it to be possible, the surgeon must have extensive experience, and the patient must not have contraindications, including inflammation of the gallbladder walls and accompanying diseases. "The main goal of the operation is not just to rid the patient of stones, but to preserve the gallbladder as an important element of the biliary system, which is especially important at a young age. The risk of developing postoperative complications of the digestive system associated with the absence of the gallbladder is reduced. Along with the organ, the patient's quality of life is preserved. Thus, we give a person a chance to live their usual life," explained the head of the surgical department No. 1 of the Akchurin BSMMP, Ramshid Odinaev. The operation was conducted in several stages. First, a special instrument called a trocar was inserted into the abdominal area through small incisions. It consists of a sharp rod and a tube through which video cameras and micro-instruments are introduced into the cavity. After the surgeons reached the vascular zone, they used hot scissors to cauterize the walls of the gallbladder to prevent bleeding. They then carefully extracted a two-centimeter stone and sutured the gallbladder.

      The entire operation took 45 minutes. The patient feels well and is already at home.
