Fayaz Sharipovich Khuzin has passed away.

      The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, with a sense of irreparable loss, announces that Fayyaz Sharipovich Khuzin has passed away - an outstanding archaeologist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, honored figure of science of the Republic of Tatarstan, and chief researcher of the Department of Medieval Archaeology at the A.Kh. Khalikov Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan. Fayyaz Sharipovich made a tremendous contribution to the study of archaeology and history of Volga Bulgaria, the Golden Horde, the Kazan Khanate, medieval cities of the Volga region, and the archaeological heritage of Tatarstan. His scientific works, expeditions, discoveries, and many years of collaboration with colleagues and students have become an important part of domestic archaeological science. His educational activities were of particular significance. Fayyaz Sharipovich had the ability to speak about the past vividly, accessibly, and engagingly, helping a wide audience to better understand the importance of archaeological research and the historical and cultural heritage of Tatarstan. For all who knew Fayyaz Sharipovich, he will remain a prominent scholar, a person of great zest for life, soulful generosity, kindness, and sincere dedication to his work. He had the ability to inspire, support, unite people around him, and maintain a lively interest in science, communication, and life. The time and place of the farewell will be announced later.
