"Economic growth continues at a moderate pace after a temporary decline at the beginning of the year. The sustained price growth, according to the Bank of Russia, has slightly decreased but remains within the range of 4-5% on an annual basis. In recent months, the growth of lending has accelerated. The budget policy over a three-year horizon will be more stimulating than previously expected. This may require a higher trajectory for the key rate than was laid out in the April baseline scenario," notes the Central Bank in an official statement. The further dynamics will depend on the sustainability of the inflation slowdown, the dynamics of inflation expectations, as well as the assessment of risks from internal and external conditions. According to the Bank of Russia's forecast, taking into account the monetary policy being conducted, annual inflation will decrease to 4.5-5.5% in 2026. Sustainable inflation will settle near 4% in the second half of 2026. In 2027 and beyond, annual inflation will be at the target. Inflation expectations of the population and businesses have decreased, but overall remain at an elevated level. This may hinder a sustainable slowdown in inflation, according to the Central Bank.
