Emergency warning for June 20, 2026

June 19, 2026, 12:04 17 6 minutes Attention! Emergency warning for June 20, 2026. Dear citizens! The Federal State Budgetary Institution "Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan" has issued Consultation – warning about the intensity of meteorological phenomena from 21:00 on June 19 to 18:00 on June 20, 2026.   On June 20, 2026, in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, the following is expected: - thunderstorms at night and during the day (in Kazan during the day);    - heavy rain during the day (including in Kazan), short-term wind gusts of 15-17 m/s, hail is possible. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan informs: During a thunderstorm: 1. If you are caught in a thunderstorm while on a bicycle or motorcycle, be sure to stop and wait out the storm at a distance of about 30 meters from your vehicle. It is not advisable to continue driving a car, as there may be disruptions in the operation of electronics. You should stop, close the car windows, and wait out the bad weather. 2. If you are in an open area during a thunderstorm, it is recommended to lie on the ground (on sandy or rocky soil), preferably in a low area. It is important that there is no river, lake, or pond nearby, as water is a good conductor, and a lightning strike spreads within a radius of 100 meters from the water body. 3. Drivers should be extremely careful while driving. 4. Pedestrians should exercise increased caution when crossing highways and when near them. 5. If possible, refrain from long-distance travel.   In case of strong winds: 1. We recommend limiting exits from buildings and staying indoors. It is important not to leave children unattended. 2. If strong wind catches you outside, we recommend seeking shelter in underground passages or building entrances. Do not hide from strong winds near building walls, as roofing materials may fall from roofs. This also applies to public transport stops and unfinished buildings. 3. Stay away from billboards, signs, road signs, and power lines while outside. 4. Do not stay near large trees, and do not park vehicles near them – broken branches can pose a significant danger. 5. It is deadly dangerous to stand under power lines and approach downed power lines during strong winds. 6. Falling glass from upper floors and roofing elements and decorative plaster torn off by the wind can pose a danger. This threat increases near buildings under construction or renovation. 7. All windows in houses should be tightly closed, and items that may fall outside should be removed from balconies and loggias. 8. Stay as far away from windows in residential or working spaces as possible. How to protect yourself during heavy rain: 1. Upon receiving information about heavy precipitation, refrain from traveling around the city, and stay in your apartment or at work if possible. Turn on wired and radio broadcasting services. If you are caught in heavy rain outside: 1. Do not go down into underground passages or other sunken areas. Try to seek shelter in buildings located above the possible flooding level. If you are caught in heavy rain inside a building: 1. If the building (room) you are in is flooding, try to leave it and move to the nearest elevated area. If you are caught in heavy rain in personal transport: 1. Do not attempt to cross flooded areas. Slowly move to the far right lane (to the shoulder) and, without emergency braking, stop. Turn on your hazard lights and wait out the rain. In case of rapidly rising water, leave the vehicle and move to a higher area or the nearest building. 2. If you are traveling by car, stop. While in the car, stay away from the windows. It is advisable to turn your back to them (facing the center of the cabin) and cover your eyes with your hands or clothing. If you have small children with you, they should be covered with your body, and their eyes should also be covered with clothing or your hand. If the cabin size allows, it is best to lie on the floor. Citizens are advised: 1. To follow news blocks and information transmitted to the public. 2. Drivers of vehicles should stop and wait during poor visibility, while moving to the right side of the shoulder and stopping as far away from the roadway as possible, ensuring to turn on the parking lights or hazard lights. 3. Refrain from long-distance travel in personal vehicles; if necessary, use public transport.

       4. Drivers should be attentive on the roads, maintain a safe distance and speed limit. Pedestrians should cross the roadway at designated places, ensuring there are no vehicles or that they have come to a complete stop.     For issues related to electricity supply, planned and emergency outages, as well as to apply for emergency repair work, contact JSC "Network Company" at the phone number 8 (843) 200-01-52. Inquiries about meteorological phenomena that have caused material damage are issued by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of the Republic of Tatarstan" at tel. 8 (843) 293-38-04. In case of any trouble, you can always call the unified emergency services number – "112". Calls are accepted 24/7 and are free from landline and mobile phones.
