Children's SIM cards have appeared in Russia.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, signed a law introducing new rules for the use of SIM cards by minors and limiting the termination of contracts with telecommunications operators, as reported on the official legal acts publication website. The document is part of the second package of measures to combat cyber fraud. According to the law, parents or legal representatives will be able to notify the operator about transferring their subscriber number to a child, specifying the child's age. This is necessary to ensure safe content and counteract fraudulent schemes. The specifics of service provision in such cases will be established by the government of the Russian Federation. The law also stipulates that a contract for a specific number can now only be terminated after 90 days from the moment it is allocated. If the subscriber contacts the operator earlier, the operator is obliged to suspend the provision of services and not charge a fee. This provision is aimed at combating the use of disposable SIM cards.
