       Tatarstan earned 6.5 billion rubles from beer excise taxes in the first five months of the current year, which is almost four times higher than the revenue from strong alcohol.

       According to the results from January to May 2026, excise collections from the production and sale of beer and beer drinks became the second largest source of excise revenue for the consolidated budget of the Republic of Tatarstan, bringing colossal revenues to the regional treasury. As reported on Friday by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tatarstan, the amount of beer excise paid reached 6.4 billion rubles, which is almost four times higher than last year's figures from excise taxes on strong alcoholic products and wines, which amounted to only 1.6 billion rubles for the same period. In total, as calculated by the department, for the first five months, the consolidated budget of the republic received 19.3 billion rubles in excise taxes, which is 35.1 percent of the planned annual allocations. However, the largest share in this structure was traditionally provided by excise taxes on petroleum products – 8.9 billion rubles, and these funds are strictly targeted and are directed exclusively to financing large-scale road activities and repairs of highways in the region. Another 2.3 billion rubles were received in the treasury as compensation for losses on movable property, while gas collections for ammonia production yielded only 0.1 billion. It was reported the day before that Tatarstan ranked second in Russia for issuing IT mortgages: according to the results of the first quarter of the current year, banks approved loans totaling 1.8 billion rubles, which is 69 percent higher than the figures for the same period last year.
