A nationwide gathering of veterans of student brigades will take place in Chelny.

      From July 2 to 4, a nationwide gathering of veterans of Russian student squads is taking place in Naberezhnye Chelny. The large-scale event involves 420 people from 33 regions of the country. It is timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the city and the 50th anniversary of the release of the first KAMAZ truck. Veterans of student squads from the Soviet period have arrived in Naberezhnye Chelny, including the first builders of the city and the automotive giant, as well as representatives of regional branches of the Russian Student Squads (RSS) and curators of the production direction.

      Participants have organized excursions to key KAMAZ production facilities — the press-frame, automotive, engine, forging, and casting plants. Veterans will be able to see how student squads currently operate in the workshops they once built. There are also plans to visit memorial sites related to the history of the All-Union construction project: the "Shock Komsomol" stele, the "Glory to KAMAZ Builders" monument, and the debarkader where the first Komsomol members arrived by the Kama River. A theatrical performance by the student squads of Tatarstan will recreate the atmosphere of the arrival of the first construction workers. Participants will also see a mural dedicated to the connection between generations.

      A ceremonial event will take place at the Russian Drama Theater "Masterovye" with the presentation of awards from the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation and a performance of the play "That Very One." Additionally, as part of the All-Russian festival of construction squad songs, original compositions about summer labor will be performed — from songs half a century old to modern ones.

      Naberezhnye Chelny became the center of the All-Union shock Komsomol construction project "KAMAZ" in 1970. Over 10 years, more than 25,000 students from across the USSR worked here. Today, the tradition of student squads continues: from 2024 to 2026, a nationwide student project is taking place at KAMAZ, including four completed stages and the upcoming fifth anniversary stage. During the three stages of 2024–2025, students assembled over 17,600 trucks, 15,400 cabins, and 8,900 engines. In total, over three years, 6,335 people have been employed through the zonal headquarters at KAMAZ.
