Residents of Tatarstan are receiving mass calls from fake Social Fund employees demanding to provide a code for "identification" and threatening to take away their pension, prompting the SFR branch in the republic to urge citizens to hang up immediately and contact the police.
The Social Fund of Russia branch in the Republic of Tatarstan has recorded a sharp increase in fraudulent attacks on elderly residents of the region. The fraudsters have adopted a new story: they call pensioners' landlines and insist in an ultimatum form on urgent registration with the client service. According to the agency, the scammers intimidate citizens by claiming that their name has allegedly been added to a "list of individuals with insufficient insurance experience." They also assert that the conversation is being recorded, and regular appointment tickets for this issue are not issued. The main goal of the criminals is to extract a code from an SMS message under the pretext of "identity verification." In case of refusal, direct threats of deprivation of pension payments follow.
The SFR emphasizes that this is a gross violation of the fund's operational regulations. "Any calls with threats of pension deprivation and demands to provide personal data are fraud. Social Fund employees do not call citizens with such demands. We ask residents of the republic to be vigilant and not to succumb to provocations," commented the situation by the head of the SFR branch in the Republic of Tatarstan, Eduard Vafin.
In the official release of the agency, it is specifically noted: fund specialists never request passport details, SNILS numbers, or security codes over the phone. All questions regarding pension provision and insurance experience are resolved exclusively through a personal visit of the citizen to the client service with original documents. There are no urgent "lists" for registration in existence. Residents of the republic are strongly advised not to engage in dialogue with unknown individuals, not to call back on dictated numbers, and to terminate the conversation at the first suspicion, after which they should contact the internal affairs authorities.
