The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation warns teenagers about the risks on the internet.
Criminals are increasingly luring minors into illegal schemes through fake accounts on social networks, messengers, and gaming chats. It usually starts with an enticing offer of "easy work," and then the teenager is asked to perform various tasks—from filming infrastructure objects to arson or transferring items. At the same time, the child often does not understand that such actions can be considered serious or particularly serious crimes. Such actions are often classified as crimes of a terrorist, extremist, or sabotage nature—serious criminal penalties are threatened for them. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation urges not to fulfill requests from strangers online, not to take on dubious tasks, not to forward suspicious content, and not to spread calls for violence, extremist materials, and instructions for illegal actions. If such an offer is received, one should act according to a simple algorithm: refuse and cease communication, take screenshots, block the user, and inform parents, teachers, or law enforcement about the situation. Seeking help means showing responsibility: it can protect many people from trouble. The Investigative Committee strongly advises parents to monitor whom their children communicate with online, regularly discuss internet risks with teenagers, and explain what threats they may encounter online.
