In Tatarstan, the prices of potatoes, cabbage, and onions have increased
The cost of potatoes in Tatarstan's stores surged by almost fourteen percent over the past week, while cabbage and carrots also saw a sharp rise in prices. In the Republic of Tatarstan, a significant jump in retail prices for the so-called "borscht set" was recorded for the last reporting week ending June 29, which noticeably impacted consumers' wallets. According to the weekly monitoring data from Tatarstanstat, potatoes experienced the highest price increase, with the average cost soaring from 53 rubles 98 kopecks to 61 rubles 49 kopecks per kilogram, or by 13.6 percent. White cabbage increased in price by 8.7 percent, carrots rose by 5.8 percent, and onions and apples also demonstrated a steady growth. Among other food products, prices for pork, fish, bread, sugar, milk, and cheeses have risen. At the same time, according to the monitoring data, chicken eggs continued to decrease in price, losing almost 3.5 percent, along with fresh cucumbers, kefir, boiled sausage, and pasta. Prices for butter and sunflower oil slightly decreased. It should be noted that, according to media reports, the weekly inflation rate across Russia has accelerated, while the annual inflation rate in Tatarstan remains above the average figures for the region and the country. It was previously reported that Tatarstan recorded a noticeable acceleration in inflationary processes in June, with the main driver of price increases being the services sector, heated by the May holidays and a chronic labor shortage. According to the Bank of Russia, the annual inflation rate across Russia at the end of June was 5.31 percent, but in the republic, prices rose significantly more, exceeding the average national dynamics.
