In Zainsk, the holiday of the Kryashen people - Peter's Day was celebrated.
At the foot of Mount Kashka-Tau on July 12, folk songs were heard, voices rang out, and round dances swirled.
On July 12, the area at the foot of Mount Kashka-Tau traditionally became the venue for the ethnocultural holiday of the Kryshean people — Peter's Day. This year, the celebration gathered several hundred guests, including residents of neighboring districts and representatives of national-cultural associations. The holiday began with a warm welcome: guests were greeted by folklore groups in national costumes. Ritual songs were sung, and folk dances were performed. Traditional Kryshean treats were presented at specially organized courtyards: baked goods, teas from local herbs, and dishes from the national cuisine.
Peter's Day in Kryshean tradition is not only a calendar date but also an important ritual milestone associated with the completion of spring fieldwork and preparation for haymaking. In folk culture, this day symbolizes the unity of labor, family values, and generational connections. It is customary to honor the older generation on this day. Long-livers, couples who have lived in peace and harmony for nearly sixty years, were invited to the main stage. The youngest resident was also congratulated.
The highlight of the program was the contest "Peter's Beauty — 2026." From ten participants, the jury selected the most charming one.
The winner received a crown and the title of keeper of traditions for the coming year.
Throughout the day, interactive sites operated at the festival. Those interested participated in various contests and competitions.
It is worth noting that the weather conditions on the day of the celebration added an element of surprise. Sunny weather was replaced by rain. However, this did not upset anyone — after all, rain, according to folk omens, is a sign of prosperity.
The culmination of the holiday was the evening ritual act — the lighting of a large bonfire. In Kryshean ethnic tradition, fire on Peter's Day symbolizes purification.
