Cycling through Tatarstan: A veteran border guard dedicated the ride to the heroes of the Special Military Operation
At the monument to the participants of the special military operation in the city of Tetyushi, a meeting was held with the chairman of the Spassky branch of the Regional Public Organization of Veterans of Combat Operations and Reserve Border Guards of the Republic of Tatarstan "Brotherhood of Border Guards," veteran border guard Rashid Ziyatdinov. The honored guest was welcomed by the head of the Executive Committee of the Tetyushsky District, Irek Sadriyev, the social coordinator of the branch of the State Fund "Defenders of the Fatherland" for the Republic of Tatarstan in the Tetyushsky District, Radik Shamsutdinov, the chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia for the Tetyushsky District, Zinnur Gabdullin, veteran border guards, and residents of the city. Rashid Ziyatdinovich's life is like a good Russian series: service in the border troops at the border, work in Siberia, activities in DOSAAF, and a severe injury that almost ended everything. Sport helped him return to a full life. In 2011, he received a black belt and 1st dan in karate – the award was presented personally by the president of the World Kyokushin Karate Organization, Tora Tezuki. Today, at the Bulgarian children's health center under his guidance, about 50 boys and girls aged 6 to 16 are engaged in activities. Since 2018, when Rashid Ziyatdinovich turned 65, his faithful companion has been a bicycle. "I made it specifically to go to the 100th anniversary of the border troops. This is already my sixth bike ride," says Rashid Ziyatdinov. Over the years, he has conquered routes to Kazan, Stara Mayna, and traveled around the Laishevsky, Rybno-Slobodsky, and Alekseevsky districts. Plans include roads to Nurlat and Aksubayevo. Along the way, drivers often honk at him, and on steep climbs, they even stop to help. "You ride and different thoughts come to mind, you remember the past, service, the guys. These trips bring me pleasure. Sometimes I ride in the rain, but we are border guards – we went out to guard the border in any weather," he shares. This bike ride is dedicated by the veteran to all the fighters who died in the SVO zone and to those who today defend the Motherland with weapons in hand.
The meeting concluded with the laying of flowers at the monument to the participants of the SVO. Those present honored the memory of those who gave their lives defending the sacred borders of the Motherland and those who did not live to see this day.
