This was reported at a press conference by the prosecutor of the department for oversight of investigations of the Prosecutor's Office of Tatarstan, Almaz Fattakhov. Scammers call, posing as employees of banks, housing and utilities, and other agencies, and demand to dictate codes, provide personal information, or take money and transfer it to specified accounts. The most common victims are elderly people, but scammers also deceive children and adults. Victims fall under the influence of scammers, who completely control their actions. They order taxis, convince them to go to another city, or use suspicious payment services. To avoid falling into the trap, specialists advise taking breaks and consulting with relatives during suspicious calls. It is also advisable to impose a self-ban on loans and the issuance of SIM cards, and to access "Gosuslugi" through the Max messenger for added security. Fraud has become a trend, and every fourth victim is under 30 years old. Authorities urge residents of the republic to actively use technical self-defense tools and to be vigilant when communicating with strangers.
