Bishop Pahomiy of Chistopol and Nizhnekamsk has been transferred to a new place of ministry.
The new ruler is appointed Bishop Philaret.
At the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church held on July 16, personnel changes affecting the leadership of several church districts were approved. One of the key decisions was the change of the ruling archbishop in the Chistopol and Nizhnekamsk diocese. Bishop Pachomius, who had previously headed the diocese in Tatarstan, has been appointed to the Borovichi and Pestovo see. From now on, his pastoral ministry will take place in the Novgorod region. The vacant position in the Chistopol diocese has been filled by Bishop Philaret, who previously led the Skadovsk and Aleshkinsk diocese in the Kherson region.
Bishop Philaret was born in 1973 in the Tver region and graduated from the mechanical and technological faculty of Tver State Technical University. From an early age, he also served in the church, and since the mid-1990s, his work has been associated with the Moscow Spiritual Academy: first in the economic department, then as deputy treasurer. He received his spiritual education at the Moscow Spiritual Seminary and later at the Kyiv Spiritual Academy, where he subsequently taught and held a leadership position. In 2008, he became the rector of the Kyiv Spiritual Schools and took monastic vows in the same year. Since 2012, his ministry has been in his native Tver region, where he was a cleric of the Resurrection Cathedral and later headed the Bezhetsk and Vyshegonsk see. In 2024, Bishop Philaret was sent to the Skadovsk diocese, and now his ministry is associated with Tatarstan.
Bishop Pachomius was born in the capital in 1976. Like his successor, he started with a technical specialty, graduating from the Moscow State Technological University in the field of "Automation and Control." However, in 1997, he chose a different life path, becoming a novice at the Moscow representation of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. This was followed by studies at the Moscow Spiritual Seminary and taking monastic vows. Most of his ministry has been associated with the Saratov diocese: here he was the treasurer, rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, chairman of the architectural-restoration department, spiritual advisor of the sobriety society, seminary teacher, and member of the Public Chamber. In 2011, he was consecrated as a bishop, and in 2023 he headed the Chistopol and Nizhnekamsk see. Now Bishop Pachomius is going to a new place — to Borovichi in the Novgorod region.
