       A man from Naberezhnye Chelny transferred almost two million rubles to scammers to buy a non-existent car and then waited two weeks for delivery.

       In Naberezhnye Chelny, an employee of a commercial organization became a victim of a classic fraud scheme while attempting to purchase a car online and lost a large sum of money. According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, a 54-year-old local resident filed a complaint about fraud with the police. The man told the police that he found a suitable car on the website of an online dealership and for almost two weeks actively corresponded with supposed sellers in one of the popular messengers, discussing technical specifications and terms of the deal. Gaining his trust, the fraudsters convinced him three times to transfer money as a prepayment for the car under various pretexts, and in total, the victim lost 1.85 million rubles. After some time, when the agreed delivery deadlines expired and the car had not been handed over to the waiting buyer, the sellers stopped communicating and simply blocked the client. The agency reported that a criminal case has been initiated on this fact under the article "Fraud in especially large amounts." It was previously reported that as of June 1, 2026, the Republic of Tatarstan remains the absolute leader among the regions of the Volga Federal District in terms of the debt of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs to the banking sector. According to data released by the Central Bank of Russia, the total credit portfolio of businesses in the region reached one trillion six hundred ninety billion rubles.
